The evolving story of Baci® Perugina® Love Notes
Find out how Baci® Perugina®’s Love Notes have evolved over the times.
How well do you know the story of Baci® Perugina®’s Love Notes? The Love Notes, that wrap every single hazelnut-crowned Baci® Perugina®, are inseparable from the story of Baci® Perugina® itself. They are the signature of each Baci® Perugina®, passing on messages of love, affection and friendship since Baci® Perugina® was founded by Luisa Spagnoli in 1922.
Love Notes have come a far way from those handwritten secret messages of Luisa Spagnoli, who created Baci® Perugina® Chocolates with hidden notes as a way to communicate with her lover, Giovanni Buitoni. It was a simple gesture between the star-crossed lovers that spurred on almost a century of friends, couples and families to speak to each other in ways that words alone could never achieve.
And whilst the perfect formula of Baci® Perugina® Chocolates has remained unchanged, maintaining the same artisanal quality as it always has, Love Notes have gone through a number of changes that reflects the constant evolution of Baci® Perugina®.
Love and affection is a universal language, and so have become the Love Notes – in the 1960s, English and French translations were added to the original text in Italian, in 1990 the messages came also in German, and with the addition of two other languages in the 2000s, this means that now these wonderful messages can be read in six languages!
